Aug 02, 2013 Red Hook Makerspace Kick Off! Makers Toolbox have launched a Makerspace in Red Hook, Brooklyn and our fundraising campaign has gone live! Please check out our video via the link below to see what we are all about: http://www.rockethub.com/projects/22941-red-hook-makerspace "You have unlimited potential, share it!" ~ To create your own educational program and fiscally sponsored (tax-deductible) fundraise got to www.WE-Endeavor.org Red Hook Makerspace: With funds raised, 40 to 50 young people from the surrounding neighborhood will get access to weekly maker workshops where they can learn hands-on skills including electronics, construction, cardboard mechanics and arts and crafts. The participants will be given the opportunity to create Drawing Robots, Pop Pop Boats, Voice Changers, Proptractors, Tin Can Electric Guitars and anything else that comes into their minds. We are trying to raise $5000 to cover materials, tools and labor. The ideal Makerspace would be outfitted with soldering irons, glue guns, screw guns, hammers, clamps, hand saws, box knives, jigsaw, drill press and more. We will be using as many recycled materials as possible but will also be purchasing timber, hardware, electronics (motors, switches, pickups, hookup wire, battery holders etc) and other small parts to teach, inspire and encourage young minds to imagine and MAKE!
